"My task, which I am trying to achieve, is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel -- it is, before all, to make you see.” – Joseph Conrad
With Mother’s Day around the corner, it is a fitting time to utilize one of her go-to phrases: "use your words!” When we were small, throwing tantrums and tempted to use a left hook instead, she taught us the importance of communication.
Of course, the struggle began from that day forward of what to say, how to say it and exactly when and where we should even attempt to speak. But with time, trial and error, many loving corrections and countless "looks" (you know the one) hopefully we have found our voices. Now, we use our words and tell our stories.
If you are like me, you don't mind borrowing someone else's take. I adore a good quote, a beautiful lyric or an amusing quip. The written word is one of life's greatest treasures. Nothing in all the world makes you think longer, deeper or more passionately than a few letters strung together creating the perfect summary of your emotions. It is an amazing thing when words make you see.
Thank you to all the women in our lives who by grace, love and "a good talking to" made us who we are today. We honor you.
Be inspired....for you have certainly inspired us. Happy Mother's Day!
