Our challenge: get the top five into one room without it feeling too “trendy”. Here’s how we did it:
I. Emerald Green: You can always start by painting your walls this gorgeous color (3), or use it more sparingly with throw pillows or even with this stunning malachite-inspired chest of drawers (13). II. “The New Gold Standard”: Now add in this finish with a few pieces that have clean lines so it won’t feel “fussy.” This étagère (10) is the perfect piece to use for display or storage while adding a bit of glamour. These side tables (2,4) feel fresh and modern in shape, but use the timeless elements of gold leaf and marble. If you don’t want to invest in larger pieces, add a few accessories to your space that have a touch gold in the details, like this set of boxes (5). III. Shagreen: Though this wonderful texture is available on large casegoods, it may be best enjoyed on smaller accessories like this great hexagon tray (7). IV. “The New Naturals”: With so many options available, it was tough to choose our favorite use of this trend. We love these black horn, sculptured antlers (9) and gold leaf root lamp (8). Of course, a zebra hide rug (12), like these other pieces, bring in a little bit nature while feeling very chic. V. Black and White: It’s simple; start with a great piece of upholstery. This white shelter sofa (1) that sits on a black frame has classic lines. If you have kids or pets, consider a slipcovered piece or a darker textile, but keep it clean and simple. Add a great grouping of pillows like this graphic one with a Greek key pattern (6). A black iron chandelier (11) hung in the center of the room will create the perfect centerpiece to arrange your seating around, and if it is placed on a white ceiling, you have already achieved this trend and created great contrast in your room.
It can be an overwhelming process trying to design a room that feels current, yet classic. We are a full-service interior design firm, and we are here to help you create a space that you will love now and for years to come.
