Ebb and Flow

“For true love is inexhaustible; the more you give, the more you have. And if you go to draw at the true fountainhead, the more water you draw, the more abundant is its flow.” - Antoine de Saint-Exupery

It is true, I have a love affair with design. As in any relationship, there is a natural ebb and flow. At times, my thoughts are consumed by what I love, I can think of nothing else. Creativity flows as naturally as the tide, and all is harmonious in my world. Other times, the well is dry and the struggle begins to fill the void. I question the process, the outcome and even my own abilities. Still, I come back each day and pour myself into my work, even when it feels like there is but barely a drop left. Over the years, I have learned that if I am patient and diligent, eventually inspiration will wash over me, and once again I am renewed. That is what brings me back, that one moment. Typically in the stillness, always with joy, I return to the fountainhead where my cup overflows.
